Astragalus

What it’s good for
Also called milk vetch, astragalus has been used as a traditional Chinese medicinal herb for boosting the immune and respiratory systems. It belongs to a family of herbs called adaptogens that stave off bacteria, viruses and cancer cells. In more recent times, astragalus is used to restore immunity in chemo patients.

In any major health food store.

How to take it
350 – 400 mg three times a day

Safety
Astragalus has no known side effects when taken for a prolonged period of time. But if you are taking immuno-suppresants like cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan, Neosar) for as part of your cancer treatment or organ transplant procedure, this herb should be avoided.
